For this piece, I depicted a happy Chimpanzee whose home went from a lavished forest to a dull green habitat. In order to fully captivate the primate in detail, I used chalk pastels for the entire piece. When I heard about this competition including endangered animals, I immediately knew I wanted to draw a chimpanzee, inspired by their innocence during the destruction of their homes and friends, and their bravery as well. I got to drawing a chimp with a smile on its face to display their happy spirit within their homes, but added a dull green background to enhance the message of deforestation and bush meat trade.
